It began with a thought, a little action, lots of faith, some hope, a bit of wisdom, and a whole heap of love… “Look at those poor street children. How can they live like that? Where are their parents? Why do people treat them so bad? Someone should do something!” And so they did.
David Kyambadde, a Ugandan, and his wife, Aimee, an American, took fifty street children from Kampala, Uganda, into their home and made a family. Calling them Home Again, Uganda, because they once had homes, lost them, and now they had a home again, the boys were rehabilitated and rejoined society as members of a family, not “street” or “orphaned” children privileged to be pitied.
A large family with all the amenities of a providing, loving, and secure home, many hold leadership positions in school. Several are exceptional students. And some have now traveled to other countries like the United States, Germany, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, South Africa, and Zanzibar.
THE RESULT…with many of their original boys, a network of government, entertainment, sports, community, religious, business, and other leaders from around the world, the Kyambadde’s founded The Redeemed, Africa, now a parent organisation to Home Again, Uganda and other projects they have started.
Having experienced the love and stability of a family, the power of perseverance, and various types of training, each of our children now endeavors to inspire and equip others with the redemption they now know.
Once despised, feared, and neglected by society, our children partner with others in providing solutions to problems other children, youth and communities face. That is redemption in action. That is what we are all about. |
